Tamenglong, June, 29: One B.SC student was drowned after he tried to rescued his two friends at Ahengky river, some 7 km from Tamei HQs of Tamenglong district of Manipur here at today.
According to the reports available here, the person was identifying as Joel Pamai son of Mathiuning Pamai of Piulekluang village of Tamei Sub- Division of Tamenglong district. Joel Pamai was a student of Maram Don Bosco College in Senapati district of Manipur. He came to spend his summer vacation after giving his BSC 2nd year exam. The incident took placed at 12 noon of 26 June 2009 when they were fishing; the strong water current swept away Joel and his companions. Joel got himself in water current while trying to save the other two of his companions, the source said. On hearing the boys shouting for help, the nearby village farmers of Thengjang village also rushed to the spot to save the boy however, they could find him and the lifeless body was found floating after half an hour later, the source added. |
