Where can Wisdom be found?

The dialogue between Job and his three friends has come to an unsatisfactory conclusion. Chapter 28 consists of a striking poem on wisdom that answers the question, Where can wisdom be found? The poem consists of three parts:
1) Precious stones and metals are found in the deepest mines (v1-11).
2) Wisdom is not found in mines nor can it be bought with precious stones or metals (v12-19).
3) Wisdom is found in God and in the fear of Him (v20-28).

God alone is the answer to the mystery that Job and his friends were trying to find out. Wisdom has been with God from the time of creation itself. The fear of the Lord, that is wisdom. To shun evil is understanding.

Job's discourse has 3 parts:
Chapter 29 is a review of his former happiness, wealth and honour. God had been his friend and companion. God's intimate friendship blessed his house, children and business.

Chapter 30 is a lament, over the loss of everything especially his honour. God had heaped overwhelming terrors on him. He feels he has been treated unjustly by God and man. He was confronted by days of suffering.

Chapter 31, Job denies all the sins listed against him. He gives details of his Godly life and the care he had for the widows and fatherless. He was committed to social justice.

Elihu is the fourth counsellor, younger than the others. He had been on the side lines listening to the disputes. He does not have false accusations about Job's earlier life but only criticise his quotations. This is perhaps the reason God did not condemn Elihu along with Job's three friends.

Job: 28:12  "But where can wisdom be found ? Where does understanding dwell?

Job's reply to his friends continue in the chapters 28 to 31. Here we read Job's discourse on wisdom which seems to be entirely different from his former speeches, because it carries philosophical thoughts.

⚡ First Job considered the way men search for precious and useful metals like silver, gold, iron and copper. Job explains how diligently men sought after these precious metals. They light up dark places, then search every recess, they dig to break open a shaft away from people, and even personally endanger  themselves.

⚡ Job continues to explain the picture of the earth as a treasure house of value and riches for those who are willing to work hard and search diligently for these riches. He again says how hard men are willing to work to gain the treasure and wealth that is hidden in the earth.

⚡ In verse 12, Job says about the most precious treasure, wisdom. Men search hard and willing to endure danger for the sake of the riches of this earth, but all of that is easy compared to the search for wisdom. Job speaks of how rare wisdom is, making it all more valuable among men. Indeed it cannot be purchased for gold and is therefore worth more than all of those precious metals.

⚡ From where then does wisdom come? Job knew the answer also. " True wisdom comes from God, it is found by being in right relationship to Him, and it is shown by a life that does depart from evil" ( v. 28)

⚡ Apostle James writes "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you" ( James: 1: 5 )

⚡ Former American Evangelist and writer has written," If you lacks knowledge, go to school. If you lacks wisdom, kneel down and pray. Knowledge is not wisdom. Wisdom is the proper use of knowledge"

⚡ If you realize that you are lacking wisdom, it is because you have come in contact with a spiritual reality- do not put the blinders of reason on again.

The fear of the Lord - that is wisdom Job 28:28.

Fear of the lord means living in reverence and respect before a holy God. We do not offend our holy God with our sinful choices and behaviour. True fear of God and true wisdom cause us to shun evil. Wisdom begins when we properly acknowledge who God is and offer Him worship He deserves.

We approach God with humility and awe and not dread and fright. A wise person will humbly seek god's perspective on a matter before acting but a fool will act on his own impulses. When we do things in God's way, we have nothing to fear and this is true wisdom.

Father God, We thank You are the source of all wisdom. Help us to avoid sin. Help us to trust and obey You. Have Your way in our lives. In Jesus Name Amen

The spirit, not the letter

I have been struck by this: These men were not Israelites – God’s covenant people/ holy race. Didn’t have the written word of God. But each of them understood - the sinfulness of man, the holiness of God, the judgment of God for sinners, & grace of towards the repentant? Each one desired to do what is right in God’s eyes.

Without any Laws poking him & prodding him, Job chose to walk with God in paths of righteousness. Look at his life – he fulfilled not just the letter of the Law, but he went beyond, & fulfilled the SPIRIT of the Law.

Cared for the weaker sections of society, handicapped, widows, orphans, migrants. [Job 29:12-16]
Stood up against injustice [Job 29:17]
Made a solemn promise never to look with lust at a woman. [Job 31:1] He was seeking to be faithful in the hidden places of his heart…
Made a choice to walk with honesty & integrity. [Job 31:5]
Saw all people as the work of GOD, and therefore treated them as his equals – therefore he was fair to his slaves... (this at a time when slaves were treated as sheep & cattle.) [Job 31:13-15]
Did not hate/curse his enemy [Job 31:29-30]
Did not allow fear of Man to rule & pressure him to injustice/iniquity/silence. [Job 31:34]
Did not hide his sins, but confessed them to God. [Job 31:33]
Did not put his trust in his riches or believe that his wealth was the result of his work [Job 31:24-25]
Did not turn away from God to worship creation or anything else… [Job 31:26-28]

WOW! It’s almost as if Job had heard the Sermon on the Mount & lived by it.

In Exodus-Nehemiah (& the prophets) we read of the greed of leaders, sexual immorality, injustice & venality - that too AFTER they had received grace. The Israelites had the LAW, they had PROPHETS pushing them, poking them to walk in righteousness. But unlike Job their hearts followed their eyes and they stepped off the way. [Rf Job 31:7]

I’ve been asking myself:
-I have been given the Written Word of God,
-access to so much study material,
-24/7 access to God’s Throne of Grace (not judgment),
-Jesus as my Mediator,
-the Holy Spirit to teach me, empower me…
Do I seek to honour God with a holy thought life?
Do I seek to exalt God by trusting in Him – not wealth, health, people?
What am I doing with the great spiritual wealth God has given me?
Am I being led by my cravings or the Spirit?
Do I seek to understand God’s heart and walk in conformity with that?
Am I just obeying God because I want blessing and I don’t want to be punished/cursed?

Dear Father, forgive me for getting occupied with the sand-castles of earth. Help me to take hold of the great spiritual blessings that is mine through Christ, and fulfill YOUR purposes for my life. Open my ears to discern between Your voice & that of the “wolf”… Help me to walk by Your Spirit. In Jesus Name. Amen.”

I am the Lord who Loves Justice

⏳ Job’s Discourse on Wisdom
There are mines where silver is dug; There are places where gold is refined.
Dig for rocks in the darkness.
No hawk sees the roads to the mines, And no vulture ever flies over them.
But where can wisdom be found? Where can we learn to understand?
The depths of the oceans and seas Say that wisdom is not found there.
It cannot be bought with silver or gold.
Even death and destruction Admit they have heard only rumors.
God alone knows the way, Knows the place where wisdom is found,
God said to us humans, To be wise, you must have reverence for the Lord. To understand, you must turn from evil.

⚡ God was always with me then and gave me light as I walked through the darkness.
⚡ even the most important men kept silent.
⚡ But men younger than I am make fun of me now!
⚡ Now they come and laugh at me; I am nothing but a joke to them.
⚡ They treat me with disgust; they think they are too good for me,
⚡ Because God has made me weak and helpless, they turn against me with all their fury. They cut off my escape and try to destroy me; and there is no one to stop them.
⚡ I am overcome with terror; my dignity is gone like a puff of wind, and my prosperity like a cloud.
⚡ There is no relief for my suffering. Why do you attack a ruined man, one who can do nothing but beg for pity?
⚡ I have had day after day of suffering.
⚡ What does Almighty God do to us? How does he repay human deeds?
⚡ I swear I have never acted wickedly and never tried to deceive others. Let God weigh me on honest scales, and he will see how innocent I am.
⚡ I would tell God everything I have done, and hold my head high in his presence.

⏳ Elihu Contradicts Job’s Friends
But it is the spirit of Almighty God that comes to us and gives us wisdom.
⚡ It is not growing old that makes us wise or helps us to know what is right.

How can you claim you have discovered wisdom? God must answer Job, for you have failed.

Be fair with Innocent
AS I AM........

* God never fails * When you step into that destiny moment God will do things speedily, quicker than you thought * Say thank you Jesus *

Because I delivered the poor who cried out, The fatherless and the one who had no helper.

The blessing of a perishing man came upon me, And I caused the widows heart to sing for joy. Job 29:12,13

We serve a God who is a giver, every good thing that we have is come from Him and He gave His only Son Jesus to the world, so that the world through Him would be saved. The above scripture portion speaks to us about giving, Job tells us when he had helped the poor, the fatherless and the widows the blessings of a perishing man came upon him. Giving is the nature of God, giving is a proof that we love God, giving is a sign and proof that we are His children. We don't do good to know God, but because we know God we do good, the children's have, display and exhibit the nature of the Father.

Charity and blessings go hand in hand. It is the law of nature created by God, what you sow is what you will reap and it will work for all His creation including unbelievers, that is why we find big industrial houses are blessed, because they give away huge amounts for charity purpose ( to eradicate poverty, sickness, child labor, prostitution etc).

Many of us wrongly think that if we give our tithes and offerings to God that is more than enough, we need not do charity. Jesus encouraged charity while He was on this earth. Once when a rich young man who kept the law perfectly well gave his tithes and offerings to God came to Jesus and asked for the way to salvation, Jesus asked him to sell everything that he had and give it away to the poor and follow Him. The rich man couldn't do it because he had huge wealth and his heart was on his riches and not on God, so he sadly went away. He kept the law but he couldn't do charity and he missed heaven and an opportunity to be in Jesus's ministry, Had he simply listened to Jesus, sold everything that he had and given it away to the poor and followed Jesus he would have been remembered like the disciples for eternity.

Charity without God in it will work for and in the earthly realm, but charity with God in it will work for and in the earthly and spiritual realm, it will take a person to heaven. The secret to be blessed on this earth and in eternity is to know God, spread the gospel and do good works (charity). One of the reasons why the most powerful nation on the earth is blessed is, because they know God, they spread the gospel and they do charity all over the world. Some decades ago there was another super power nation who persecuted people who knew God, they didn't allow the gospel to be spread, they broke into pieces and simply sank without a trace. Some nation's don't know God and they hinder the spreading of the gospel and they don't allow other nations to do charity work in their country and for centuries they are in poverty always looking to the world for help, but the nations which know God, spread the gospel and do charity are always blessed to be a blessing to other nations.

Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this, to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world James 1:27.

So let each other give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or not out of necessity for God loves a cheerful giver 2 Corinthians 9:7.

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart Galatians 6:9.

Heavenly Father thank You that we are blessed to be a blessing to others, give us the grace and the heart to be a blessing to the poor, needy, orphans and widows and bring glory and honor to Your name, in Jesus name we ask and pray.

Amen and Amen.
God loves you
