The Sabbath Day (Origin, Ordination & Order)

The concept of Sabbath Day can be traced out in the Creation Events. Although the word"Sabbath" is not used here, the Hebrew verb translated 'rested' (Gen 2:2) is the origin of the noun 'Sabbath'.
According to Gen 2:2, God rested in the seventh day, not because he was weary, but because nothing formless or empty remained. His creation work was completed, and it was totally effective, absolutely perfect (".. it was very good "). It did not have to be Repeated, Repaired or Revised
God has a divine plan and purpose for creating Adam on the sixth day and not on the fourth or fifth day.
✅ God wants Adam to enjoy His provisions from Day I to Day V of his creation.
✅ The next day after the sixth day is the day of rest.
✅ The seventh day is the day of blessing, and God made it holy.
✅ The first man had the privilege to enter into a rest on the first day, which was designated as holy.
✅ The first occurrence of the word"sabbath" is recorded in ✒ Exodus 16:23",Tomorrow is to be a day of rest, a holy Sabbath to the Lord

✅ The first record of obligatory Sabbath observance by the Israelites is recorded in ✒ Exodus 16:22-30

✅ At the time of giving the Law,God said, Remember the Sabbath Day by keeping it holy.. ✒ Exodus 20:8. Israelites were to remember the event(Exodus16) where / how they approach/ encountered God's heavenly provision (the manna). God blessed the Sabbath Day and made it holy. Thus, the Sabbath became a sign of the covenant between God and Israel at Mount Sinai. ✒ Exodus 31:13,17.

✅ In Deuteronomy 5, Moses reiterated the Ten Commandments. It was needed for Israel's New Generation. It is interesting to note here that while referring to the fourth commandment, the phrase begins with -- Observe the Sabbath Day.. and ends with the same phrase (v 15b). There is an urgency, and the Israelites are to obey and practice.

✅ The Pharisees kept a perverted Sabbath in Jesus's day, for they had turned the Sabbath into a stern, hard, ritualistic day and hedged with strict limitations.

But Jesus Christ, the Lord of the Sabbath, said that the Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath ✒ Mark 2:27
Jesus further said,"It is lawful to do good on the Sabbath ✒ Matthew 12:12

The Sabbath was for the Jews and not for us today. Isaiah dictates the true way to keep the Sabbath Day (Is 58:13-14):
~ To delight in the Lord.
~ To cease from your own pleasure
~ To make it a day that honors the Lord.

Glory to God

Final Teachings of Moses

Moses delivered his farewell addresses to Prepare the People to enter the Promised Land. The teachings were from his heart in a warm and personal way. His teachings emphasised commitment to the Lord in worship and obedience.

He made sure that the Israelites had a knowledge about their God by teaching them about Him.

He taught them:
▫ He is a God who blesses those who hold fast to Him.
▫ The Lord our God is near them whenever they pray.
▫ He is the God who gave righteous decrees and laws to His people.
▫ He is a consuming fire and a jealous God who abhors idolatry. ▫ He is the God who loved the forefathers and chose their descendants and brought them out of Egypt with His presence and great strength.
▫ The Lord God will be found by him who seeks Him with his whole heart.
▫ The people who walk in the ways He commanded will live and prosper and increase greatly in the Promised Land.
▫ If the people are careful to obey all the laws commanded by God, that will be their righteousness.

Do you long for God's blessings?
Here's the secret:
Hold fast to Him.
Seek Him whole heartedly.
Worship Him sincerely.
Implicit obedience to His word.
Ardent prayer life.
Love the Lord who love you to the utmost.

God abhors idolatry. Any thing in your life that takes the place of Jesus is an idol in your life. It could be Television, Cell phone, computer etc. So BEWARE!!

Fear of the Lord

Dt 6:1.2 commands, decrees.....
the Lord your God directed me teach you....
may fear the lord your God......by keeping all His decrees...

The Lord commanded Moses to teach the importance of obedience to God's laws, fear God, which insures life and prosperity. The commandments are to be obeyed, kept, and so causes fear of evil and produces blessings.

Fear God who is angry about sin and has the power to punish those who break His righteous laws.so we should obey His commandments and say no to sin.
To fear God is to acknowledge He is holy, regard Him with awe reverence and to honor Him for His majesty and power.
Fear of God causes believers to put their faith and trust in Him alone for salvation.
Bible says Fear of the Lord is beginning of wisdom. So we have to teach our children to fear the Lord.
Fear of the Lord sanctifies God's people.we should be careful and restrained in our speech.

When we fear God, we worship and glorify Him as Lord of all.

God has promised rewards for all who fear the Lord with riches, honor and life (Pr 22:4), long life (Pr10:27), provision for our daily needs (ps 34:9), refuge for the children and protection from snares of death (Pr 14:26,27)

The Eyes and Heart Connection to keep Faith Alive....  Deuteronomy 4:9

The central teaching for the next generation of the Israelites was this....
What your eyes? saw should not slip from your heart, Deuteronomy 4:9

Deuteronomy, is the Fifth Book of the Pentateuch, in which Moses recapitulates and reiterates the Main Events of the Last Forty Years in the Wilderness, to the Joshua Generation, repeatedly Exhortating them earnestly to the Obedience to the Law and Ordinances, with Severe Warnings against the Dangers and Consequences of Forsaking The God of their Fathers, Who Faithfully brought them out of the Egyptian Bondage and Slavery. They were also reminded on how to Conduct themselves when they settle down in the Land they were going to Possess .

The Next Generation was repeatedly told not to make the Same Mistakes of their Fathers. This Book is Full of Specific Practical Guidelines that we can even apply for our Daily Lives.

Let me zero in on one verse in Chapter 4. Moses was asking the Joshua generation in verse 9 not to forget the things their eyes have seen and or let the things slip from their heart as long as they live. And they are to teach their children and grandchildren and generations to come what they saw and believed.

There was a real danger that the Israelites would be careless and unmindful of the wonderful things that God had done for them and forget all the intense study of God's Word and His Laws at Mount Sinai.

One of the ways to have a good memory recall is to teach. So God constantly reminded them to teach their children and the way their children were going to remember was to teach their children.

Faith dies quickly without any remembrance. It is easy to be carried away by all kinds of distraction and forget the things of God. Direction keeps us from Distraction. If we are focused on what God has asked us to do, we will not be distracted by the world's ways. We have to keep faith alive in our hearts by remembering what we have seen God has done and all the things we have experienced in our lives.

God commanded the Israelites to wear a fringe on their garments so that they may look on it, and remember all the commandments of Yahweh God, and obey the commandments and that they were not to follow after their own heart and their own eyes, which they used for idolatry, Numbers 15:39

The Israelites used their own eyes and heart to follow other gods, and God therefore warns them to use their eyes and heart to follow Yahweh.Should their eyes and heart go astray, they got tassels and fringes to remind them.

The Israelites considered children to be a great blessing. They went to great lengths to orient children to their proper role in relationship to their family, their nation, and their God.

Our failure to teach our children the Bible is one of the several reasons children's church attendances and Sunday School attendance are on the decline. I consider Children Bible Study as number one priority in my Ministry. Some places children's Bible study has been replaced with sing songs, games and entertainment. How are we going to instill godly values so that our children can become Kingdom Children and Nation Builders?

Dear Child of God, remember this verse from the "Message Bible Translation"....
Deuteronomy 4:9: Just make sure you stay alert. Keep close watch over yourselves. Don’t forget anything of what you have seen. Don’t let your heart wander off. Stay vigilant as long as you live. Teach what you have seen and heard, to your children and grandchildren.

Let us share with our children and grandchildren what we are gleaning from the 240 days insights... Amen

Do not Add / do not Subtract

Deuteronomy 4:2,5. Here Moses is telling Do not add to or subtract from what l command you but keep the commands of the Lord, your God, that l give you.

1. The word of God is given by the Holy Spirit. lt is more precious than thousands of gold and silver. It will save us, teach us, feed us, warn us, correct us, heal us, lead us, guide us, console us, cleanse us, deliver us from devil, fight for us and give us victory, peace and eternal life and judge us.

2. Yes, Do not add or subtract to the word of God. Proverb 30: 6 says if you add to the word, He will rebuke you and prove you a liar. Revelation 22: 18 says if you add anything to these words, God will add the plagues described in this book. This shows that we should be cautious not to add or substract from the word of God.

3. 2 Corinthians 4:2 says do not use deception or do not distort the word of God. In stead tell the truth plainly in the sight of God. 2 Corinthians 2:17 says, Do not peddle the word of God for the profit. But speak with sincerity. Colossians 2: 21 says the last days they will teach touch not, taste not, handle not and these are the doctrines of men. 1 Thimothy 4: 1-5 says in the last days people will depart from faith ad follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. They are liars and their consciences will be scarred with hot iron. They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods which God created to be with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth. Yes,these liars are destroying many souls and families. Let us pray for a minute for God to deliver these perishing souls.

4. How can we protect us from these liars? We should read and meditate the word of God with the help of Holy Spirit. When we hear a doubtful message, search the scriptures what is written. Beware of false teachers, false prophets and false doctrines. God is telling us to identify them by the word of God and by their fruits and run away from them.

May God help each one of us to safeguard ourselves not to add or substract from the word of God. Let us pray for the souls who are already in these bondages of evil powers. Amen. Hallelujah.
